Q: What is the best colour space to use, Adobe RGB or sRGB?.
A: We use sRGB for printing at Fotobook.co.uk, so we would recommend converting your images to this colour space to avoid any discrepancies.
Q: I'm having problems with some of my pages disappearing when I reload my project into the software.
A: This may be caused by the fact that there is a 2Gb project size limit in the software. Try downsizing some of your images in Photoshop or similar, and replace them in your project.
Q: I'm trying to load my old project into your new editor but it's not working?
A: Unfortunately the new editor (v4.01) is a completely different editor from the old one (v3.4) and therefore it won't be able to load your old projects. Don't worry though, because if you require a reorder, we have a system in place so that if you've placed an order since April 2008 we will still have it in our system and can reprint it for you. If you are sending a file from the old editor, we will still be accepting new orders until January 2008, so if you have a project half way through at the moment, there's no need to upgrade yet.
Q: The editor is telling me that my photos are poor quality, but I know they should be more than good enough.
A: The editor has a very strict system for working out if your photos are of a high enough quality. Most of the time you should just ignore these warnings unless you are genuinely worried about the standard of your digital camera, or if you have used the lowest quality settings on your camera. Please email us if you have any questions.
Q: Once I have started my project, can I change the size of the book?
A: No, unfortunately you will have to create a new project.
Q: Where do I find my saved Photo Books and other projects?
A: Your projects will be saved by default in 'c:\Windows\Program Files > Fotobook Editor'. It will be a .dtp file.
Q: What settings should I use on my camera to get the best results?
A: We highly recommend that you take your photographs using your cameras highest jpeg resolution setting. A minimum resolution of 1024 x 768 is required for some of the smaller picture boxes. For the larger picture boxes in Photo Books and calendars, a resolution with at least 1600 in picture height, and 1600 in picture length should be used. This should avoid any disappointment. Every camera is different so we would recommend reading the appropriate pages of your camera manual to determine the best setting. Please note that not all cameras ie phone cameras or low megapixel cameras, are capable of producing a high enough resolution to be placed inside a Photo Book. For best results we would recommend a camera with at least 4 megapixels or above.
Q: How many photographs can a Photo Book contain?
A: The maximum number of photographs you can use, based on our largest Photo Book (50 pages) with the 16 photo box template page is 800! A more realistic estimate would be something between 100 and 200 photographs using various template pages.
Q: When I crop or alter my photographs, does it affect my original images?
A: No, the Fotobook software stores it's own copy of your photographs within the project file. This does not affect your original images in any way.
Q: I am having difficulty uploading my project. What could be the problem?
A: The problem may be caused by your firewall. Try disabling your firewall temporarily until your project has uploaded. If you are still having problems please email us and we will send out an offline Fotobook Pack to help you get your project to us.
Q: Why have I not received a confirmation email after ordering?
A: The main reason that this happens is if you have entered your email address incorrectly. Please check that it's correct in options > settings > user.
Q: Where do I enter the title for my Photo Book?
A: Your title or heading is entered on the very first template page of your Photo Book project. You can enter a maximum of 26 characters including spaces. If you decide to use all BLOCK CAPITALS please be aware that the maximum number of characters drops to 18.
Q: Is there an Apple Mac version of the Fotobook Software?
A: Unfortunately there isn't an Apple Mac version of the software at the moment. We do however now have a service that Apple Mac owners can use to create their own Photo Books. Go to the Offline Service page for more information.
Q: The Frequently Asked Questions page hasn't helped me. What can I do now?
